Get to Know Fayetteville

Fayetteville is home to the University of Arkansas, which adds to the youthful vibe of the town. Residents like to “keep Fayetteville funky,” which is easy to do with a great combination of local shopping, dining, live entertainment, public artwork, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

The shopping options in Fayetteville are as diverse as its residents. You have the region’s only indoor shopping mall, as well as hundreds of local boutiques and the area’s largest Farmers Market on the downtown square. If you want a fun night on the town, you can catch a concert or play at the Walton Arts Center or listen to live music at places like George’s Majestic Lounge, located on the ever-popular Dickson Street.

The Fayetteville Public Library reopened in 2021 after a $50 million renovation. This included an expanded children’s library that includes sections for pre-schoolers, elementary school kids, and teens. There’s an 8,300-square-foot performance space, a 16-station teaching kitchen, a local coffee shop and deli, new study rooms and meeting spaces, and a Center for Innovation, which includes a robotics lab, a flight simulator, a CAT simulator offering training on equipment like backhoes, earthmovers, and forklifts for real-life workforce training.

As you explore toward the east of town, you’ll discover Lake Fayetteville and the Botanical Gardens, which draws more than 80,000 visitors a year and includes the region’s only butterfly house.
